Anyone who was a citizen of India at any time, or whose parents/grandparents were Indian citizens. Citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh are not eligible.

If one parent holds an Indian passport or OCI, the child is eligible for OCI. Minors need to re-issue their OCI each time they get a new passport until age 20.
